MULLIGAN'S PLACE LOFT:

A Decade of Success and Consistency with the Same Birds!

Mulligan's Place Loft of Staten Island, New York, needs no introduction to the racing pigeon sport.  Winner of over 100 national awards, and flying in the toughest competition it can find, its spectacular consistency and success since 1985 is phenomenal.

For the first time, the partnership of Titus Reinhart, Peter Wellington and Bob Prisco offers us a look into the breeding loft responsible for generations of super racers and breeders.  It clearly deserves the title "America's Premier Performance Loft."

Here are the Janssen, Huysken Van Riels and Imbrecht bloodlines that made it all happen:

PAIR I

Famous "85 No Bands" Pair (Imbrecht)

Cock - 85-Blue Checker

Hen - 85-Blue Checker Splash

No history is known about their ancestry, except that they are Imbrecht.  Mated together in 1986, they have produced 23 direct children that have won 21 races and 90 diplomas from distances of 82 to 544 miles.  Their children include Hall of Fame, Ace Pigeons and Championship Birds.  However, their real value is in the breeding loft.  They blend with our HVR and Janssen bloodlines to produce exceptional racers and breeders.

PAIR II

Cock - AU-85-RI-011 Blue White Flight (Imbrecht)

Hen  - IF-83-HBG-3355 Blue Checker White Flight (Janssen)

This super pair clicked right away.  The combination of #011 and #3355 has bred super champions totaling 10 individual winners and 49 diplomas.  Also, they have bred a total of 25 winners and 94 diplomas with other birds.

PAIR III

Cock - AU-85-SI-2685 Blue Checker

Hen  - IF-88-YORK-933 Blue Checker

This Janssen pair started its success in 1989 and has produced 9 individual winners and over 40 diploma birds at distances of 98 to 415 miles in both young and old bird competition.  More impressive is their off-spring's ability to reproduce top futurity birds and money winners in the toughest competition in the U.S.A.

PAIR IV

Cock - IF-85-MGF-47 Blue Checker

Hen  - AU-83-BCA-3446 Blue Checker

This HVR pair has produced multiple winners, AU Hall of Fame, AU Reg. Champs and top futurity winners.  The 10 individual winners and 48 diplomas at distances of 120 to 550 miles are spectacular results.  Amazingly, their children have produced even better birds in the breeding loft.

PAIR V

Cock - AU-87-PARK-1253 Blue White Flight

(Son of Famous "Butch Poppa" AU-84-JBM-259)

Hen  - AU-84-JBM-261 Blue Checker

This HVR pair mated in 1988 has produced 8 individual winners and 43 diplomas at distances of 195 to 544 miles.  These include AU Reg. Champions, Ace Pigeons and Hall of Fame birds.  This is the perfect combination to found a breeding loft because of its generations of proven racers and breeders that have scored in both young and old bird competition in the big futurities.

PAIR VI

Cock - AU-90-BXC-175 Blue Checker (HVR)

Hen  - IF-90-MGF-1902 Blue Checker (Janssen)

This new "Hit Pair" with HVR/Janssen blood has produced 8 super racers within 3 years in major competition, and several national award winners.  Both #175 and #1902 were super racers, and now are outstanding breeders.

PAIR VII

Cock - AU-84-JBM-259 Blue Grizzle Splash "Butch Poppa"

Hen  - IF-87-NHF-4633 Blue Checker White Flight (HVR)

"Butch Poppa" was purchased at auction 3 years ago for over $2,000.  He is a 4 time winner, 3 times at a distance of 500 miles, winner of $60,000 and a "Sire of Sires."  In 3 years, he had bred with 5 different hens to produce 7 outstanding racers that include AU Hall of Fame, 4th in the IF Convention, AU Reg. Champ, Ace Pigeon, a money winner in the China Race, and 5th in the 1996 Federation Race.  #259 and #4633 is a "Hit Mating."  #4633 is a phenomenal breeding hen and an AU Reg. Champion.  She is presently our top producing hen with 12 individual winners and 26 diploma winners.  These include AU Hall of Fame, Ace Pigeons, Reg. Champions, 4th in the Snowbird Classic, and 3rd in the Snowbird Futurity.

The birds mentioned in this article represent 3 families blended for 100 to 600 mile performance and four generations of success for over a decade.  Many birds were bred with some success, but they were eliminated because they did not meet Mulligan's standards.

The ideas of pigeon fanciers continue to change with new strains, different techniques and advanced technology.  However, winning today is what is important.  The pigeons that win today for Mulligan's are the same birds that won 10 years ago.  Mulligan's philosophy is simple and practical:  "PERFORMANCE PIGEONS FROM PERFORMANCE BLOODLINES COMPETING IN THE TOUGHEST COMPETITION IN THE U.S.A."
